Legends Expands to Los Altos! June 28-July 2nd Camp Recap!

Legends Baseball Camps

This week, Legends Baseball Camps had the opportunity to expand into the South Bay, in a new location, Los Altos. Upon arrival, there was a feeling of eagerness and excitement from the campers of what was to come in the next five days. Legends Baseball Camps are known for their ability to bring fun and competition to the game of baseball, which many kids missed out on in the summer of 2020. As a result, the campers were loud, excited, and ready to start off the week. In the early days, the days are focused heavily on instruction. However, these drills given by the coaches have a fun twist on them. For example, the famous zombies and survivors focus on hitting hard line drives and doubles, and the camp favorite lasers have an emphasis on fielding and bodying up ground balls, all while competing in a fun environment.

Later in the week, it is time for the Legends Olympics. The Olympics combine every skill and game the campers learn throughout the week and put them to the test, as the whole camp is split into two perfectly even teams to compete in every camp game and baseball skill. In Los Altos, Coach George’s “Dino Nuggies” faced off against Coach Mark’s “Fire Breathing Rubber Duckies” in an Olympics for the ages. Team Nuggies took victories in the base race and infield competition, while the rubber duckies snagged two wins in the throwing and infield competitions. This led to a very interesting post lunch activity. Lasers was the longest and most competitive game that the camp has ever seen, with team Dino Nuggies squeaking out a close win on a perfect pop fly play. This pinned the rubber duckies against the wall, but gave them the motivation to come back and win the famous capture the baseball game on a walk off little legend score. With all things even going into the world series, both teams put up good fights, but the rubber duckies came out victorious on a walk off win in the bottom of the 6th inning.

As camp director George Peters described, it was a competitive and fun week filled with growth and excitement. We thank all parents who brought their kids out to camp this week, and we are excited to see you in the future. GO LEGENDS!
